Is there a better side dish than bread? Nope. And bread with garlic and butter? Nothing better. You know that yummy, greasy, garlic bread they sell in the grocery store? It’s full of chemicals and it’s expensive; you’re better off to make your own. And the smell in your house while it’s baking will bring everyone to the kitchen without you even having to call them!
The best way to make this recipe is to slice a loaf of french bread down the middle, spread the butter mixture on both sides, and put the loaf back together to bake it. But I accidentally picked up a pre-sliced loaf at the store today, so I had to improvise. I just spread the butter on each slice and baked them flat. It’s great either way!
Easy Garlic Bread
1 loaf bakery french bread
1 stick butter (not margarine)
3 large cloves of garlic
fresh basil, rosemary, thyme, and chives (to taste)
big pinch of kosher salt
Place the butter into a microwave safe bowl. Grate the garlic into the butter with a microplane. Soften butter in the microwave (if it melts a little, it’s fine), Chop the herbs and add to the slightly melted butter. Add the salt and stir well. Spread butter mixture all over the bread. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes. Raise temperature to broil and cook until browned.
